A lot of guys try to conceal a big belly with Baggy clothing BUT baggy clothes actually makes you look bigger than you probably are. Some general rules to follow

Color is the most important aspect in dressing to look slimmer than you actually are. Stripes are your worst enemy. Dark colors-black, chocolate brown, charcoal, navy blue, and dark gray-offer a more slimming look. Browns, blacks, grays, and navy blues happen to be this years "in" colors. You get to wear fashionable trends while also appearing slimmer. Make sure your suit jacket and shirt are similar in color. Contrasting hues draw attention to the point in which they meet. The point at which the colors meet will create a line that adds the appearance of bulk.

When purchasing a suit jacket (and every man needs at least one jacket), look for two-button suit jackets in dark colors. Once again, the dark colors are more slimming. In addition, a two-button suit creates a streamlined look that makes your waist and stomach look tapered and trim. Do not buy a jacket that is too loose. A loose appearance will add the appearance of weight. You also need to avoid purchasing clothing that fits too snugly. Clothing should fit comfortably with no more than an inch of space at any given point.

Though Hawaiian prints are in, large patterns give the appearance of bulk. Stick to small vertical patterns that make the torso appear longer and slimmer. Always rely on vertical patterns and never horizontal patterns. Stripes that are horizontal add a round look and can make you look a lot heavier than you are. The same applies with buttons and zippers choose small, narrow fasteners.

Shiny satins, rayons, and other fabrics add weight. Any fabric with a bright sheen will make you appear larger than you are. Stick to clothing that has a brushed appearance without any shine.

If you have a chubby, round face, do not purchase turtlenecks. Turtlenecks can make you look heavy in the neck area. Instead, choose shirts with angled v-necks or leave the top couple of buttons on a dress shirt undone so that there is an angle that slims the face and neck.

As for jeans definately go for a boot cut with a dark rinse. Stay clear of carpenter or other baggy cuts!

I want to open a women's clothing store that only carries tall sizes for woman. I live in Pennsylvania I have been searching the net with no luck. I've only found retailer's that offer tall sizes. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks!!!!!

Have you tried asking the owners of clothing stores in your area for the names of some of their suppliers. Just because they ( the retailers) don't carry a particular line of merchandise doesn't mean their suppliers don't have what you need. Give it a shot what's to lose.

I really love the clothes that designers that like Betsey Johnson or Michael Kors have on the runway.. but they are not sold in ready to wear to stores yet. Is there a waiting period between the collections on the runway and when they actually are for sale, or can you only get runway designs by going straight to the designer?

Unless the clothes displayed on the runway were from the ready-to-wear collection, you have to go straight to the designer and spend a lot of money to get it specially made for you.

A local business owner has offered to tell me the "secret" for $20.

She claims the prices are cheaper than wholesale, cheaper than vendor supplier magazines, and cheaper than closeout situations, in which freight is bought by the pound.

But, I'm skeptical as to whether this is such a big secret.

Lignan, a fiber found in flax, is the latest hope in the treatment of cancer

Flax - the plant that gave grateful world the classic look of linen - hot research property nowadays. Prized for millennia as a source of seeds and cooking oil as well as cloth, the flax plant has also been long celebrated for its medicinal properties, especially in easing coughs. But the therapeutic potential of flax really took off in the late 20th century, when scientists found that flax seed is rich in alpha linolenic acid, an inflammation-alleviating omega-3 fatty acid.

The latest substance in the scientific spotlight: flax lignans. While many plant foods supply this unique type of fiber, flax seed is the richest possible source. Question is, what makes lignans so special?

Hormonal Shifts

Sex hormones such as estrogen and testosterone affect a lot more than just libido and reproduction; if these powerful substances go out of balance, they can actually stimulate the overgrowth of breast or prostate tissue (which may lead to breast cancer or prostate cancer). Lignans act as phytoestrogens. When they are ingested, the body transforms them into a form that keeps hormones from over-stimulating cells, a process that helps support healthy cell growth. Lignans also interfere with enzymes that can promote cancer development and therefore may be helpful in the treatment of cancer.

Populations that eat lignan-rich diets have lower breast cancer rates, and early research suggests that increased lignan intake may help protect breast tissue through cancer prevention. In one study, women newly diagnosed with breast cancer who ate muffins made with 2 1/2 tablespoons of flaxseed every day experienced reduced tumor growth (Breast Cancer Research & Treatment 11/00) suggesting a role for flax in the treatment of cancer. This may explain why some women find relief from mild menopausal miseries after taking flax lignans.

Lignans are antioxidants, substances that can keep harmful free radicals from ping-ponging through tissues; scientists think that’s why flax lignans have shown an ability to lower cholesterol and act in cancer prevention. Flax also appears to have an ability to reduce stress; among post-menopausal women who ate three different flax diets, the ones who consumed more lignans experienced the biggest drop in both stress hormone levels and blood pressure (Journal of the American College of Nutrition 12/03).

Keeping Men Comfortable

While women certainly benefit from lignans, flax can be beneficial for men too. Prostate cells, like breast cells, can be kicked into overdrive by hormones which may result in prostate cancer. A pilot study at Duke University suggested that flax lignans, combined with a low-fat diet, may reduce cancer risk - yet another indication that flax may be useful in the treatment of cancer. The researchers gave finely ground flaxseed to 25 men with prostate cancer who were awaiting surgery; after a month, all had reduced hormone levels and their cholesterol levels were lowered as well. Tumor growth also slowed (L/ro/ogy7/01)

What’s more, flax’s testosterone-moderating effects appear to help reduce benign prostate hyperplasia an uncomfortable predicament that vexes many men as they age. Rats fed a lignan supplement had comfortably smaller prostates then other rodents, and men scheduled for repeat prostate biopsy who took supplemental flax experienced reduced rates of benign prostatic growth (Urology 05/04). Flax may even help reduce hairloss in men. DHT, the form of testosterone that can harm the prostate, attacks hair follicles and spurs excess oil production in the skin, increasing the chances of pimple formation. Flax lignans interfere with DHT production.
